Dorothy Bauer, age 95, has suffered a stroke and is recovering at Vashon Community Care just a mile north of town. She gives special praise to the Garrison brothers, Gerry (also 95) and Ken, who was 92. Architect Ken designed several houses on Vashon and Gerry ran the Burton Water Co. from 1950 to 2008.

Dorothy invites all of the island’s elders for a show of respect for those who have improved Vashon-Maury Islands. Come to VCC on Aug. 4 between 3 and 5 p.m.
