Fall season honors

Boys basketball

Several members of the Vashon Pirates boys basketball team were named to All-League and state tournament basketball teams.

The team’s coach, Andy Sears, was named Nisqually League’s coach of the year.

John Gage was named the 1A state tournament’s most valuable player, while Thomas Timm-Skove was named to the tournament’s second team.

Gage was also named most valuable player in the Nisqually League.

Timm-Skove made the All-League first team; Max Burnham and Alex Wegner made the second team.

Chris Pieterick and Charlie Hoffman earned honorable mentions.

Girls basketball

Four Pirates from the girls basketball team were named to All-League teams.

Zelda Porter and Kelly Costello made the first team, while Chrissy Swope was named to the second team, and Charlotte Kehoe earned an honorable mention.

Costello was also named to the 1A All-Conference team and invited to play in the Washington All State Girls’ Basketball game.

Wrestling

Pirate grapplers were honored this month, with four named to All-League teams.

Rogen Lopez and Geran Webb were named to the league’s first team; Sam Chapman and Timmy Jovanovich made the second team.

On the girls team, Sylvie Shiosaki made first team, Madeleine Wolczko made second team, and Iris Spring earned an honorable mention.

Honorable mention All-State Academic Awards went to Shiosaki and Graeme Britz.
