The 2022 Vashon lacrosse season is off to a great start.

We are thrilled to have a wide engagement with some of our youth teams. Getting kids started in lacrosse at the youth levels is what makes our high school teams so great. Many of these athletes get to play with each other for years before entering the high school level but it’s never too late to enjoy lacrosse!

Our Lady Valkyries, the high school girls, are glad to be back on the field competing after a couple years’ hiatus. This is a dedicated bunch that could use some support from this awesome Vashon community. They had their first game of the season last week and also played this past Tuesday in Tacoma with Bellarmine Prep.

The Vashon Vultures, the high school boys, are off to a great season, winning both the games they’ve played so far. The season opener was on Tuesday, March 15 at North Kitsap. Vashon dominated the field with goals from Ryder Jones, Caleb Hecht and Nick Poole. Goalie Ben Larson had seven incredible saves which sealed the Vulture’s first victory with a 9-4 win over North Kitsap.

The next game, on Friday, March 18, with Vashon Vultures versus Peninsula, was a fierce high energy game from start to finish. With first-time Vulture goals from Reid Stromberg, Sawyer Ranney and assists from Spencer Mazur, Davis Rice and Ryan Noonan. Thanks to our wall of defense, we were able to shut down numerous attempts by Peninsula to score on Vashon. The Vultures pulled off their second win of the season with historically undefeated Peninsula lacrosse, ending in 13-6 victory.

This is an exciting season. Come join the fun! The Vashon Vultures’ next home game will be at Vashon High School at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 5. Come support the Lady Valkyries at their next home game at Vashon High School at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2.
