Sticks up — Vashon Lacrosse season kick-off happens soon

All are welcome — including those who have participated in the club in the past, newcomers, and those who are just curious about the sport.

Vashon Lacrosse Club (VLC) will have its season kick-off and general meeting from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, in the Chautauqua Elementary School gym and multi-purpose room.

All are welcome — including those who have participated in the club in the past, newcomers, and those who are just curious about the sport.

There will be games, prizes, and free donuts for the kids.

Attendees are urged to bring their own lacrosse sticks or to borrow one from the club and join the fun. Board members and coaches will be on hand to talk about the club and the logistics of the season. Club shirts and stickers will also be for sale.

The event will include a gear swap, where attendees can help meet each others’ needs by sharing and trading what they have. For this portion of the event, attendees are reminded to share only the new regulation chest protectors and not bring any of the old ones — keeping players safe is of utmost importance to the club, said Osha Christianson, VLC interim president.

“We’re looking forward to another great season,” Christianson said, offering thanks to all members of Vashon’s vibrant lacrosse community. “Registration is open and our teams are forming. We appreciate having such amazing coaches stepping up to lead our youth onto the fields. Together we make Vashon Lacrosse great. Go Vashon!”
