Vashon Vultures soar to next round of state championships

The Vultures will battle for the State Championship at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at the Vashon High School Stadium.

It’s been an exciting season for the Vashon Vultures as they live up to their motto: hard work pays off.

On Saturday, May 14, the Vashon Vultures extended their winning ways with a playoff victory over Bellingham High School in their quest for the High School Boys 1A/2A State Championship.

In front of a packed stadium, the Vultures went into halftime with a modest 7-4 lead.

However, in the second half, the Vashon defense clamped down on the Bellingham offense while the likes of Ryder Jones, David Rice and Aimen Tegenfeldt-Phohman each buried goals to secure the victory.

The Vultures hope to draw another packed house at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 21, as they host the Overlake Owls in their next state playoff match-up.

Congratulations to Caleb Hecht (attack), Spencer Mazur (long stick midfielder), Davis Rice (midfield) and Jonah Wolney (defense) for their selection to the Washington High School Boys Lacrosse Association (WHSBLA) Varsity Lacrosse Olympic Conference First Team.

Come check out their next game as they battle for the State Championship at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at the Vashon High School Stadium.
