Wrestling team places well at Rainier High tourney

Vashon wrestlers competed at the Rainier High School tournament last week, placing sixth overall out of 17 teams. Top placer for the team was Ethan McIntyre in second, with thirds coming from Payton Bonaventura and Nico Nuxoll. Finn McClure, Jake Carman, Lewis Kanagy and Jordon Rutschow rounded out the top finishes with fifths all around.

Team members Isaac Escovedo, Jake Bowden, James Ryland and Yury Coucoules each came home with match wins.

The team’s final home dual and senior night take place at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, vs Port Townsend at VHS.
