Jerald ‘Jerry’ R. Coutts

Jerald “Jerry” R. Coutts, formerly of Vashon, died Jan. 14, 2006, in Gresham, Ore. He was 76 years old.

Mr. Coutts was born on April 24, 1929, on Vashon Island to Dr. and Mrs. Vester Coutts. His father was a dentist on Vashon for many years.

Mr. Coutts attended school on Vashon and graduated from Vashon High School in 1947.

Mr. Coutts served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper and military policeman, later returning to college to prepare for his life in the business world. He worked most of his life in the travel industry, eventually owning a travel agency in Portland, Ore.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, and golf.

Survivors include his wife Katherine Pedersen of Gresham; sons Steve and Tom Coutts; daughter Victoria Sasser and her husband John; grandchildren Wesley, Kyle, Ryder, Haley and Lindsay Coutts.

Remembrances can be made to Portland Adventist Hospice.

A memorial service was Saturday at Gresham Funeral Chapel.

Private inurnment to be at Willamette National Cemetery.
