Ethel (Snow) Broughton

Published May 13, 2006

Ethel “Snow” Broughton died May 13, 2006, in Spokane near her children. She was 80 years old.

She was born Sept. 16, 1925, in Everett to Mabel and George Snow.

She graduated from Everett High School in 1944.

She married Bruce Broughton on June 22, 1947.

The two traveled extensively throughout their 53-year marriage and made many friends along the way. They raised their family in Othello and then moved to Vashon Island where they treasured their waterfront paradise. Their home was always open for family and friends, and Ethel greeted everyone with a smile and had an infectious laugh. Her most recent highlight of her travels was a trip to Peoria for Mariner’s spring training with her sisters and two nieces.

Even though in recent years she couldn’t see well, she still enjoyed a game at Safeco Field, it was enough just to be there and feel and hear the excitement!

Survivors include her four sons Dick Broughton and his wife Susan, Ed Broughton and his wife Marnie, Roger Broughton and his wife Janet and Clay Broughton and his wife Deanne. Other survivors include two sisters, Dorothy LaLone and Shirley Daily and her husband Bill, sister-in-law Kathleen Snow, three nephews, Bob and Jim LaLone, Tom Twede, and two nieces Judy Troyer and Sue Galde and all of their families.

Her husband and her brother died earlier. There will be no services at her request.
