PHOTOS: Islanders ring in holiday season with Winterfest

Islanders lined the streets of downtown Vashon on Saturday night for the annual Winterfest parade to usher in Santa’s arrival and see the lighting of the town tree which was in a new location at the southern edge of town this year. Children rode on the float with Santa, local musicians played under tents and the rain held off long enough to celebrate. Santa has taken up residence at his cottage in town near the Village Green and children can come visit him between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 and 17. There will be a break between 3:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
