Two pioneers of cultural transformation, mythologist Michael Meade and globally-known facilitator Arne Rubinstein, will join forces this weekend to lead an in-depth exploration of the arts and rites of meaningful change during times of crisis and collective transition.
The all-day workshop, “Leading in Times of Transformation,” from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 24, at Vashon Methodist church, will offer ideas and practices of rites of passage that offer a viable framework for transformation and leadership that can change individual lives and alter social patterns.
This intensive workshop is designed for change-makers, leaders, mentors, youth, and those seeking to clarify their gifts and deepen their sense of life’s purpose. This event is hosted by Journeymen Institute, in partnership with Mosaic Multicultural Foundation.
Meade, an islander, is a renowned storyteller, mythologist, and author with decades of experience creating soulful experiences that change lives and culture. Michael is the founder of the Mosaic Multicultural Foundation, a nonprofit that initiates innovative projects and unifying events that support and educate at-risk youth, refugees, combat veterans, and communities in need.
Rubinstein, from Australia, is a former medical doctor and internationally recognized expert on Rites of Passage. For over 30 years. his programs through the Rites of Passage Institute have motivated and inspired people in more than 25 countries around the world.
Nicky Wilks, the executive director of Journeymen, said that both Rubinstein and Meade had provided strong support, wisdom and encouragement to Journeymen, an island nonprofit known for camps, workshops and training courses designed to empower youth and the adults in their lives.
“As we approached our first season of camps, Arne offered to fly across the world to collaborate on a series of events that propelled Journeymen into early and consistent success,” Wilks said. “Next week, we will welcome him back again so that he can continue his commitment to our vision, as well as fulfill one of his own dreams — co-facilitating a workshop with one of his mentors, Vashon’s own Michael Meade.”
