Helen Andrews | November 5, 1936 – July 19, 2026

Helen Virginia Andrews, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children at her home on Vashon Island on July 19, 2026.

Born on November 5, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, Helen graduated from the University of Illinois, where she met the love of her life, J. David Andrews. The two married and moved to Seattle in 1959, where they built a wonderful life together over 62 years. They raised four children and developed rich and deep relationships across the Puget Sound region and beyond. Helen was her husband’s (known affectionately as “Pappy”) soft touch, true north and wise counselor.

Known affectionately as “Mimi” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Helen was the heart and soul of her family. She shared love freely, was the consummate hostess, welcoming everyone into her home with warmth, kindness, and generosity. Her passion for gardening, cooking, and entertaining made her home a place of warmth and love. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome, and the memories created around her table, telling stories and reciting poems, will be cherished for generations.

Helen received a Master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Washington, was a member of Vashon Methodist Church, the Sunset Club, Washington Athletic Club and PEO (Philanthropic Educational Organization). She is survived by her four children, Ginny Morris, Rob (Janie) Andrews, Mike (Jill) Andrews, and Betsy (John) Kraft, along with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will forever treasure her love, wisdom, and indomitable spirit. Her legacy lives on through the family she nurtured, the friendships she treasured, and the countless lives she touched with her grace and hospitality. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
