Robert Stanley Reed died June 22, 2006, at Providence Hospital in Everett. He was 78 years old.

Mr. Reed was born April 25, 1928, to William and Signe (Kallstrom) Reed in Seattle. He was the second of two children. His brother William died at an early age.

Mr. Reed graduated in 1950 from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s degree in business. He was in the Army ROTC. He served in the Army during the Korean War, and was stationed primarily in Seoul as a Lieutenant in the Quartermaster Corps.

When he returned from Korea, he met and married Florence Wells. He continued to serve in the Army Reserve and left the service as a Captain. He enjoyed hiking in the Alpine Lakes, camping with the family, caring for his parents, taking photographs and spending time with family. He was interested in textiles and collected antique and handmade lace as a hobby for many years.

He worked for Boeing as a contracts specialist until 1972, when the family moved to Vashon Island. Several years later, he returned to work at Boeing and worked on the IUS program, retiring in 1982.

Mr. Reed was much loved, family members say, especially for his sense of humor. He died quietly of pneumonia brought on by complications of Alzheimer’s.

Survivors include his son Paul, daughter Patricia, wife Florence.

A memorial service was July 1 in Everett.
