Hugh Burdette

Hugh Burdette died July 26, 2005, at Vashon Community Care Center. He was 89 years old.

He was born May 29, 1916, in Hillsboro, Ore. His parents were Hugh E. Burdette, Sr. and Hazel Freels Burdette.

Mr. Burdette and Carolyn Danielson were married April 10, 1942, in Hillsboro, Ore.

Hugh owned and operated an appliance repair service in Hillsboro for several years then moved to Kent, Wash. in 1956 to work for Boeing. The next move was to Vashon in 1962, and he went to work as an electrician at Bremerton Naval Shipyard until his retirement in 1980.

Mr. Burdette was devoted to his family, loved gardening, restoring antiques and collecting coins. He and his wife enjoyed trips to Scandinavia and Hawaii.

Survivors include his wife Carolyn, daughter Susan (John) Manca of Seattle, brother Robert B. (Virginia) Burdette of Yakima and sister Barbara (John) Losli of Hillsboro and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A son, Robert Burdette, died in 2002. His widow Aimee lives in Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, at the Vashon Lutheran Church followed by a reception at the Vashon Community Care Center.
