Hundreds of island children and their families filled Ober Park last Saturday morning for the Vashon-Maury Island Chamber of Commerce’s annual Spring Fling celebration.
The first day of sunny and warm weather in recent memory greeted the revelers who began dying eggs, running around the park’s play equipment and taking photos with the Easter Bunny at 10 a.m. while waiting for the egg hunt to start at noon. After hours of anxiously waiting behind the ribbons separating them from their candy-filled eggs, children ages 1 to 9 took to the grassy areas of the park in three waves and scooped up the colorful plastic treasures.
