Are you voting yes on Prop1?

Join the entire Vashon Island Fire & Rescue Board of Commissioners in voting “yes.” Help provide the funds needed to keep the island safe with your vote.

Some have said the rate of $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed home value is too high and that your taxes will increase by 6 percent every year when the levy passes. That is not a fact. Remember, there is a $1.50/$1000 limit.

Our taxing system is complex and confusing . Rates are determined based on a number of factors. One important thing to remember is the King County Assessor’s Office states “an increase in property value does not represent a dollar-to-dollar increase in property taxes” (kingcounty.gov/depts/assessor/Common-Questions/Residential.aspx).

So please, consider what benefits the community will gain by you voting “yes.”
