LETTER: After sun, island rain was welcome

I’m a third generation San Diegan, and I’m very much enjoying my first visit to Vashon Island.

I will confess that after six years of drought and constant sunshine in sunny San Diego, I decided I needed to get wet and cold for awhile and chose Vashon as my place to enjoy and embrace it all. I’ve never been to this area before, and I also needed to just escape, and Vashon has been perfect.

Three days in a waterfront house on the north point right off the ferry landing. I’ve been everywhere, and I can’t wait to come back. The Hardware Store Restaurant has been my home away from home. And yes, I’m exploring properties. I was urged to write because folks thought my story was kinda weird and funny. Who knows? I love this island, and I’ll be back soon.
