View population concerns through proper framework

A few weeks ago, I was honored to give a talk at the Land Trust Building sponsored by four organizations, Stand Up for Racial Justice, Vashon Indivisible, Vashon Resettlement Committee and NWDC Resistance.

A question was posed regarding population control, a misconception of the root cause of climate change as well as refugee crises worldwide.

Naomi Klein states, “I believe that population control is often a way to change the subject from the consumption habits of wealthy, mostly white people in the world, to the procreation habits of poor, mostly brown and black people in the world, as a way of letting ourselves off the hook.”

I look forward to dialogue once we recognize the correct framework to view local and global human suffering: 1) greed and 2) fear associated with giving up our own power and privilege.
