Vashon HouseHold presented the 2021 Jean Bosch Broad Shoulders Big Heart award to Kerri Grace and the Masks for Vashon seamstresses on Wednesday, Feb. 10.

Since March of last year, Masks for Vashon has been making and distributing masks free of charge to the community. To date, the group has made 11,500 masks.

Masks for Vashon was originally started by a group of islanders at the beginning of the pandemic. Kerri Grace now leads the effort, made possible by talented volunteer sewers and the generosity of the Vashon Alliance to Reduce Substance Abuse (VARSA) who have been sharing their office space for distribution and also as a hub for the effort.

To get a three-layer, super comfortable and fashionable mask visit the VARSA office from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mon. through Fri. Donations are appreciated and can be made online at masksforvashon.org or when you get your masks.
