With the falling leaves comes wrestling season, and the Vashon High School grapplers are preparing themselves for the challenge.
The Tacoma Dome was the last stop for the Vashon High School wrestling team this past weekend.
At the regional wrestling tournament held last Saturday at Bellevue Christian High School, five tough Vashon Pirates ascended the ladder into the Tacoma Dome where the state tournament will be held this weekend. Once inside the Dome, each wrestler will compete with 15 others in his weight class to determine the best in the state.
The Vashon High School wrestling team hosted the 1A Sub-Regional Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 7, with 13 athletes qualifying for the regionals competition this Saturday at Bellevue Christian.
Last Wednesday, in their last home dual match, the Vashon Pirates lost a hard, tough wrestling match to the Eatonville Cruisers, 33-45.
