Egg hunts are an Easter tradition, including on Vashon, which saw a mob of kids take Ober Park last weekend at the Park District's annual event to carefully capture the many hundreds of plastic eggs left for them. But there's another kind of creature on Vashon well-known for its ingenuity and dexterity when it comes to finding eggs and other snacks: the common North American raccoon. Securing waste containers and chicken coops is a good way to send these crafty omnivores looking elsewhere for dinner.
