Betty Jean (Meissner) Morse

Betty dedicated her life to teaching and nurturing young people.

Proverbs 22:6

The Family of William (Bill) Morse wishes to inform the community of the passing of Betty Jean Morse. Betty, beloved wife, mother to three, grandmother to nine, and educator, died early in the morning of July 29, 2024, at her home on Vashon.

Betty dedicated her life to teaching and nurturing young people. She taught at Lutheran and Christian Schools in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Georgia, Washington, Minnesota, California, Wisconsin and Shanghai, China.

She came to faith and was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and School, West Seneca, in Buffalo, New York. She was a graduate of Concordia Teachers College, Bronxville, New York – Associate Degree; Concordia Teachers College, River Forest, Illinois – Bachelor’s Degree; University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, Wisconsin – Master’s in Education.

Betty was a Commissioned Minister of the Word, Emeritus, in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.

A time of thanksgiving for Betty’s life will be included in the regular Sunday worship service at 10:00 a.m. at Bethel EFC Church on Vashon Island on September 8, followed by a coffee hour. Friends, neighbors, PEO sisters, Book Club and Bible Study members are invited to join the family on that occasion, either in person or on YouTube.

Betty will be interred in a private service at the cemetery of Trinity Lutheran Church, West Seneca, Buffalo, New York, surrounded by her family.
