Darlene Gale (Shride) Reimer went to be with her Savior on May 5, 2022.
Darlene was born in Cambridge, Nebraska October 20, 1933 along with her twin brother Darrell. She moved to Vashon Island with her family in 1937 and graduated from Vashon High School in 1952. She was crowned Miss Vashon 1952 and Miss Washington 1954. Darlene worked for Arthur Murray Dance Studios and later the Boeing Company, where she met Ivan W. Reimer, Jr. They married in 1959 and raised three children in Edmonds, Washington. After Ivan’s untimely death in October 1986, Darlene continued to live in their Edmonds home and enjoyed her close family.
Darlene was the youngest of ten children and had a passionate and determined spirit that at times challenged those around her. Darlene was predeceased by her husband of 27 years, Ivan, her parents Dale and Nancy Shride, and her nine siblings: Blanche Heien, Margaret Stephens, Richard Shride, Frank Shride, Hazel Leaf, Nellie Bell, twins Donna Gimblett and Donald Shride, and Darrell Shride. She is survived by her children: Doreen (Jeffry) Solberg, Kevin Reimer, Jeffrey (Michelle) Reimer, her grandchildren: Nathan (Janie) Solberg, Carissa Reimer, Natalie Reimer, and great-grandchild Felicity Solberg.
The family would like to thank her many caregivers, especially Silver Lake Senior Care adult family home. Darlene was always comforted by her strong personal faith. Faith is the hand of the soul that reaches out to God and never comes back empty handed.
