Gary Bergamini

Gary “Bergie” Bergamini

1942 – 2016

Gary “Bergie” Bergamini, longtime resident of Vashon Island, passed away in his Vashon home with his daughters and life partner by his side on November 24, 2016.

Gary was born to Guido and Evelyn Bergamini in Seattle, where he spent his life. He was a bigger-than-life, self made businessman in the automotive industry, retiring in his 50s. His work ethic and drive allowed him to create his Seattle Turf and Vashon Surf lifestyle, where he could enjoy the arts, food and lifestyle of the city and nurture his love of gardening on a peaceful island. In his early years, Gary was an avid bicyclist, spending many miles pulling cyclists half his age up long grueling mountains. He was often the start of a good prank and would not hesitate to add a little rock weight to a fellow rider’s bicycle. He had a love of travelling, whether it be bicycling through France, wine tasting in Italy, sightseeing in Germany or peering over the edge of the Grand Canyon, he enjoyed exploring and embracing the culture and lifestyle of the area he was visiting. Gary had a passion for life, he was filled with energy, nerve and wit. A get-it-done guy, giving plenty of cheerful hell along the way.

His passionate, generous, unfiltered, unique sense of humor is matched by no other. Father, grandfather, great grandpa, Papa B, brother, life partner, cousin, uncle, friend, my guy and business guru was truly one of a kind and will be missed by many. A celebration will be held on Vashon in July, his favorite time of the year.
