Gray Maclean John Randall

He never turned down a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup and kept his dry sense of humor until the end.

In Loving Memory of

Gray Maclean John Randall

10/10/1952 — 5/25/2025

Born to: Mary Catherine (Tallett) Randall and Gray Maclean Randall

From a young age Gray was a world traveler, living in Vietnam when he was 18 months old. His father was an officer for the Central Intelligence Agency and was dispatched on assignment in Uganda, Morocco, Hong Kong, Belgian Congo and the Ivory Coast. Gray attended an all boy’s boarding high school in Rome, Italy and graduated from Queen Ann High School in Seattle, Washington.

Gray spent much of his adult life at sea. In the 1970’s he was in the Coast Guard stationed at Cape Canaveral in Florida and Peoria, Illinois. He spent time working for NOAA on a Hydrographic Survey ship in Hawaii and Alaska. He also worked for Crowley Maritime as a Chief Mate, escorting tankers in and out of Valdez, Alaska.

He was a collector of oddities, who in his spare time enjoyed woodworking, golfing and kayaking. Gray was a motorcycle enthusiast. He and his co-worker Harland once rode their motorcycles from Seattle, Washington to Valdez, Alaska where they both worked on Crowley tugs. They referred to the ride as, “commuting to work”.

He was a kind, gentle man who loved dogs and they loved him back!! He never turned down a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup and kept his dry sense of humor until the end. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jeanne Reynen and his cousins Patty (Mike) Benton of Phoenix, Oregon, Cathy King of Molalla, Oregon, Jerry Scott, Roseville, CA, Ed (Marilyn) Scott, Phoenix, AZ, Elven (Carolyn) Scott, Canastota, SD, Glenn (Cindy) Scott, Henning, MN and Jim McKenna, Seal Beach, CA.
