John Campbell | 1942-2025

He will always be remembered for his kindness, warm heart and infectious smile.

John Campbell passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025 surrounded by his wife and daughters.

He was born in Seattle to John Joseph Campbell and Margaret Lucas Campbell on April 30, 1942.

He spent his early childhood in the Madison Park neighborhood before moving to Medina where he attended Medina Elementary and Bellevue Junior High. As a proud Bellevue High Wolverine, he enjoyed basketball, football and track, and made many lifelong friendships before graduating in 1960.

During high school, he worked for his father at Campbell Hardware & Supply, a store that had been in the family for generations. He developed a love of building and woodworking. A skilled handyman and creative problem-solver, he figured out how to fix just about anything.

In 1964, he met the love of his life, Janey Rosellini. They wed two years later and were an incredible team for 59 years. Together they raised four daughters, Ann, Susie, Kristi and Maggie, in their Medina home.

John started American Dry Ice in 1968, in a small building in South Seattle. He grew the company to have multiple branches up and down the west coast. He was a natural entrepreneur, starting many other small companies throughout his life. John had a rich imagination filled with innovative thoughts and grand ideas.

Summer time as a child was spent at his family beach house on Agate Pass. He enjoyed boating, fishing and water skiing with friends. In later years, summers were spent on Vashon Island. John built a beautiful home where he and his wife, kids and grandkids have spent many years making memories.

His ability to create joy and laughter will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will always be remembered for his kindness, warm heart and infectious smile.

John is survived by his wife, Jane K. Campbell, daughters Ann, Susie, Kristi and Maggie, sons-in-law Bryan and John and his 9 grandchildren, Lauren, Campbell, Grace, Olivia, Cass, Marcus, Julia, Maia and Lucy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Janet Schanno and son-in-law Castromo Preston Jr. A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Bellevue on Saturday, November 15 at 11:30 am. A reception to celebrate John’s life will follow the service.
