Larry Fuller | 1947-2025

A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on October 11, at the Sportsmen’s Club on Vashon Island.

Larry Frank Fuller was born on March 4, 1947 in Seattle, Washington,to Betty Jane (Tjomsland) and Carl Frank Fuller.

Larry peacefully went to be with Jesus on September 18, 2025, surrounded by family.

Larry was a lifelong (until February of this year) resident of Vashon Island, Washington, attending Burton Grade School and Vashon High School. Larry excelled in sports as a child, especially basketball and baseball. He also played the accordion.

Larry was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1966, entering the service in August and being discharged in August 1968.

He served a 14-month tour in Vietnam in an infantry forward clearing unit. Larry was a good shot, earning the nickname of “Sniper.”

Larry had many jobs, working from a young age. Among them were bowling alley pinsetter, strawberry picker, gas station attendant, fisherman, ferry worker, Merchant Marines, Northwest Airlines ground crew, and appliance repair.

In later years Larry co-built, ran and was main driver of a replica of the 1955 U-60 Miss Thriftway vintage hydroplane. Larry enjoyed hunting for deer, elk and moose. He was also a great storyteller and loved to “shoot the breeze.”

Larry married the love of his life Karen (Airhart) on January 30, 1970. They were married for over 55 years until his death.

Larry loved his family more than anything and is survived by his wife, Karen and three children; Lori Ann Norton, Dean Fuller, and Carla Olsen, and two sons-in-law; Russ Norton and Karl Olsen.

He is also survived by two beloved grandsons, Jacob (Aleha) Norton and Thomas Olsen and great-grandchildren Aiden, Austin and Londyn Norton and Elsa, Asher, Nora & Theo Norton. Larry is also survived by many treasured cousins.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Carl, infant sister, Terry Ann and his eldest grandson, Adam Joseph Norton.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 11, at the Sportsmen’s Club on Vashon Island (19720 Singer Rd SW, Vashon, WA 98070).

Larry requested that we wear his favorite color, red, or Miss Thriftway orange. Jeans are appropriate!
