Louise Gallagher

She was a loving and caring wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Edna Louise Gallagher, (née Barnett), longtime former resident of Vashon Island, passed away in Boise, Idaho on December 19, 2024.

Louise spent her childhood in Port Angeles, WA, later moving with her father to Vashon where she attended Vashon Island High School. She was attending the University of Washington when she met her future husband, Don Gallagher. Soon after marrying they settled on Vashon where they raised their family, moving to Sun Valley, Idaho in the late 1970s.

Louise and Don embraced Northwest life during their years on Vashon, spending winter weekends skiing with their children and sharing summers on the water with a large community of friends and family. In her later Vashon years, Louise worked as a travel agent, a time of great personal growth and fulfillment for her.

The move to Sun Valley marked a return to a favorite vacation spot and opened a new chapter in their lives. Louise reconnected with old friends and made many new ones in the Wood River Valley, volunteering at the local hospital and keeping a busy social schedule while she and Don ran their real estate management business. They were avid and curious travelers, but more than anything they looked forward to welcoming friends and family to their beloved Hailey home.

Louise is survived by daughter Debbi Gallagher Wallace and son Kevin Gallagher and their families. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, mother-inlaw, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her warm heart and bright spirit will be cherished and missed by all those fortunate enough to have shared in her life.
