Happy people provoke emotions so strong you cannot help falling in love with their refreshing attitude towards life.

Bringing us a mixture of love, joy, a fond- ness of horses, animals, arms full of tattoos and a different hat everyday. The happiest woman in the world. That’s Shirley!

Shirley Douglas was born in Seattle Washington on August 12th, 1956. She passed on Christmas Day. We are broken.

Her early school years took place on Vashon before she was sent to Rainier School. She went to a group home and shortly after came back to Vashon where she met Rick Houk. They married in 1977. Later she lived with her sister her remaining years.

Shirley is proceeded in death by her parents Don and Dollie Douglas, brothers Jim Estes and Donald Douglas Jr, and a sister, Sandra Lewis. Surviving siblings are sisters; Sharon Lawson (brother in Paul Lawson), Charr Douglas, Sheree Tomoson (brother-in-law Tim Tomoson), brother Bob Estes and sister in law Lorna Estes. Included also are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She brought happiness and Joy everywhere she went and will be missed by many. Our hearts are forever broken.

A Celebration of her life is set for February 18th, 2:30 pm at the Vashon Eagles.
