Vashon Repertory hosts reading

Join theater lovers at 7 p.m. Monday, March 21 for a staged reading of “The Unnamed” in the lobby of Vashon Center for the Arts (VCA), presented by Vashon Repertory Theatre (VRT). The play, by award-winning playwright and screenwriter TD Mitchell, is described by VRT as being a haunting and poetic play that is a “rumination on race, womanhood and society.”

Directed by UMO’s Elizabeth Klob and starring Jeanne Dougherty and Alma Davenport, “Unnamed” brings audiences into the realm of Ruth and One — two women of a certain age, locked in an ambiguous relationship, in a nondescript house, in a dystopian future.

Tickets are pay-what-you-will at the door, with a $10 suggested donation. In compliance with VCA’s policies, all patrons will be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a recent negative test, and masks are required during the reading.

Original Works 2022

Returning live to the Kay White Hall at Vashon Center for the Arts for the first time since 2019, “Original Works 2022” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 18, and Saturday, March 19.

An array of solos, duets, and large group pieces will be presented in the dance concert, choreographed and performed by both Vashon Center for Dance students and faculty, as well as guest student dancers from other island studios.

Buy general admission tickets, $22, at vashoncenterforthearts.org. All patrons are required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a recent negative test, and masks are required.
