Finnegan Scriver, an 18-year-old islander, died on Saturday, July 31, after a motorcycle accident in the 244th block of Vashon Highway S.W.

King County Sheriff’s Office said that first responders were called to the scene of the accident, which involved one other vehicle, at 9:22 p.m. on Saturday. Scriver’s death was confirmed on Monday by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Scriver, who was a 2021 graduate of Vashon High School, was a member of the varsity football and baseball teams at VHS. In May, at the Vashon Scholarship Foundation ceremony, he was awarded scholarships from the Robert Bennedsen Memorial Project, the Scout Award and the Justin Hagerty Memorial Scholarship.

Tragically, Scriver is the second member of the VHS class of 2021 to have died since graduation. In late June, class member Will Huck died after drowning.
