More art exhibits on Vashon for First Friday

Open Space for Arts & Community
Open Space will launch its new residency program, presenting inaugural artist-in-residence Julia Wilkins’s installation, “Solitudet_The Exhibition.” Experience the installation in-person from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 3, and from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 4, The installation will also be open from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 5 and 6. Puget Sound Community Credit Union
An exhibition called “Heart Art Show” will grace the walls of the credit union in February. There is no opening reception on First Friday but islanders can stop in to see the work during regular business hours, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, throughout the month.
VALISE
An opening reception for a month-long exhibit, “The Big Picture,” will happen from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at VALISE Gallery. Artists of the VALISE collective include: Gregory Burnham, Dot Cherch, Bill Jarcho, Jesse Johnson, Pascale Judet, Corinne Lightweaver, Rachel LordKenaga, Robert Passig, Jiji Saunders, Sharon Shaver, Hita von Mende, George Wright and Lenard Yen.
Each will occupy 50 square feet of wall space for one large work of art. This show is the counter-balance to VALISE’s “5×5” show, in November and December, which featured tiny works made by the same artists. VALISE, located at 17633 Vashon Hwy SW, has regular hours of 1 to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
