With story and song, local author addresses troubled times

Meade will address a growing sense of conflict and anxiety in current times.

Local mythologist, author, storyteller and musician Michael Meade will host an in-person event, “Finding Spirit, Making Soul: Growing Self and Community in Troubled Times,” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Vashon United Methodist Church.

At the event, Meade will address, through story, song and spoken word, a growing sense of conflict and anxiety in current times — a collective sense of unease that makes it “more essential that we find ways of making meaning and bringing healing to both nature and culture.”

According to Meade, “We are in a collective rite of passage that seeks to awaken the heart of humanity. Yet, if we cannot sustain the vitality of our own being, we become unable to change the conditions of community and culture.”

Find out more and purchase tickets to the event, $12 general and $10 for students and seniors, at mosaicvoices.org.

At the website, registration is also now open for a free online event, “Gratitude and Grace,” which will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17.

In this presentation, Meade will offer story, mythic insights, and an in-depth Q and A period.
