A windstorm Tuesday morning thrashed Vashon, shutting off power across the entire island.

In a recent exercise, six groups of Vashon CERT volunteers like this one traveled predetermined assessment routes. Within an hour, the CERT teams had noted the status of critical locations all over the island ‒‒ everything from ferry docks to grocery stores to schools to radio towers.
