A kid rocker performs for benefit

Cedarsong Nature School, Vashon’s acclaimed outdoor education program helmed by Erin Kenny, will offer “Beatles and Bugs,” a fundraising event, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, at the Open Space for Arts & Community.

Cedarsong Nature School, Vashon’s acclaimed outdoor education program helmed by Erin Kenny, will offer “Beatles and Bugs,” a fundraising event,  from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, at the Open Space for Arts & Community.

The event will feature music, crafts, face painting and snacks.

At 11 a.m., there will be a concert by acclaimed “kindie” rock act Caspar Babypants, the creation of Chris Ballew, also known as one of the founders and frontmen of The Presidents of the United States of America. Ballew lives part-time on Vashon and strongly believes in Cedarsong’s mission.

Tickets are $8 per person, with kids younger than 1 year old admitted free of charge.

All of the money raised at the event will go to Cedarsong’s scholarship fund.
