A big name in comedy is coming to Vashon Theatre this week, to perform in a live show that will also feature a classic car show and lively music by a local band.

Comedian Jeremy Hotz, who has written for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and also hosted his own special on Comedy Central, will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19.

To celebrate Hotz’s appearance, Vashon Theatre owner Eileen Wolcott has arranged for Islander Paul Engels to bring a parade of classic cars to a stop outside the venue before the show.

And at 6:30 p.m., the well-known Vashon band Loose Change will warm up the crowd just before Hotz appears.

Hotz’s career began in Ottawa, Canada, where he grew up. Highlights from his two decades in the world of comedy include guest spots on The Late Show with David Letterman and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

He’s also appeared at top comedy venues throughout Canada and the United States and has delivered award-winning performances at the renowned “Just For Laughs” comedy festival in Montreal.

Tickets to Hotz’s Vashon show are $18, and can be purchased at the theater box office or at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/77550.

All audience members who are younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
