Venus & The Vixens

Join Martha Enson and Kevin Joyce (EnJoy Productions) as they return to their theater roots, with a new interactive rock musical “Venus & The Vixens: Games of Love,” conceived and directed by Enson and running May 30-June 16 at Emerald City Trapeze in Seattle.

But first, help them kickstart and preview the production at a free Feb. 1 event, at 6:30 p.m., at Open Space for Arts & Community. There will be games, food and drink available for purchase from Ruby Brink, performances, and lots of friends. All are invited to be a part of this creative project. Seattle Opera Chorus

Come experience the full glory of the Seattle Opera chorus in a concert at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at Vashon Center for the Arts. The 36-member chorus will perform selections including “The Bell Chorus” from Pagliacci, “Choral Dances” from Britten’s Gloriana, “Stomp Your Foot” from Copland’s “Tenderland,” and much more. The ensemble will highlight the many characters an opera chorus personifies — including soldiers, humble town folk, witches, sailors, aristocrats, and more.

The concert takes place at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at Vashon Center for the Arts. Purchase tickets at vashoncenterforthearts.org.

Finding a creative path

Join local author Sally Fox at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Vashon Senior Center, for “Embracing the Muse: Following a More Creative Path.”

Fox will present an event filled with storytelling, performance, and conversation, springing from her memoir, “Meeting the Muse After Midlife: A Journey to Meaning, Creativity, and Joy.” Fox will explore how the narratives we tell ourselves about aging are often too limited, and how we can open new possibilities for growth and fulfillment by expanding our creative expression. This will be the first of five programs. Each month, Sally will interview two local creatives on the possibilities and challenges of living a creative life, and introduce easy, creative practices for all to follow.
