Finding a creative path, Movement teacher offers something new, and more.

Finding a creative path

Join local author Sally Fox at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Vashon Senior Center, for “Embracing the Muse: Following a More Creative Path.” Fox will present an event filled with storytelling, performance, and conversation, springing from her memoir, “Meeting the Muse After Midlife: A Journey to Meaning, Creativity, and Joy.” Fox will explore how the narratives we tell ourselves about aging are often too limited, and how we can open new possibilities for growth and fulfillment by expanding our creative expression. This will be the first of five programs. Each month, Fox will interview two local creatives on the possibilities and challenges of living a creative life, and introduce easy, creative practices for all to follow.

Movement teacher offers something new

Students can select classes on Tuesday evenings, beginning Feb. 6, from 5:30-6:30 p.m., at the Tree of Life Wellness Center, or Wednesday afternoons, beginning Feb. 7, from 1-2 p.m., at Ober Park’s performance room.

Make your own valentines

This Valentine’s Day, ditch the store-bought cards and express your love by presenting hand-made quilled cards created in a workshop with local artist Kathy Raines. At the workshop, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at Herban Bloom, Raines will guide students on the art of transforming delicate strips of paper into a stunning heart-shaped design using paper filigree techniques.

All materials that are needed to create your quilled card, including colorful paper strips, glue, cards, and envelopes, will be provided. The class will also offer tasty bites and drinks from The Hardware Store Restaurant. Learn more and sign up at tinyurl.com/nkzm6cru.
