Another night of art

Three Island galleries will open their doors for a bonus gallery cruise from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9.

Blue Heron Gallery will hold a reception for an exhibition of sculptures by Basil Milovsoroff.

Silverwood Gallery will continue its 14th annual “Shake the Tree” group show, with new work by 11 artists.

Heron’s Nest will continue to feature the photography of Candy Gamble and ceramics by Ken Turner.

Music at Café Luna

Café Luna will host a free concert by alternative pop music diva Suzie Bradford at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10. Bradford’s band, The Side Project, will play with her. The Side Project often includes paintings, photography, sculpture, video and silent films in its shows. For a music sample, visit www.myspace.com/thesideproject.

Call for art for VIGA

Vashon Island Growers Association is looking for artists to illustrate its Vashon Island Farmers Market 2009 promotional poster. Any medium is welcome. The final poster size will be 11 x 17 inches.

Island artist in Seattle

Island artist Matthew Olds will have paintings in two Seattle group shows in January. The first show, at the Alexis Hotel, opens Jan. 7 and runs through March 31 and is curated by Seattle Art Museum Gallery curator Barbara Shaiman. The other show, “New Beginnings,” will be held at Fetherston Gallery. That show runs Jan. 9 through Feb. 7.
