Sweet songs on tap at Blue Heron

The folk duo Ginny Reilly and David Maloney will play a concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at Blue Heron Art Center.

Known for their harmonies and guitar work, Reilly and Maloney have been performing together since the 1970s. At the Blue Heron show, the duo will sing songs from their new CD, “Brighter Light.”

“We always love coming back up to Vashon Island,” said Maloney. “We have lots of good memories there.”

Keep on dancing for St. Paddy

The Vashon Celtic Dance Society will keep St. Patrick’s Day celebrations going through the weekend, with a night of dancing and live music scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at the Grange Hall located in the north-end ferry parking lot. The Vashon Ceili Band (Martin Nyberg, Marilyn Kleyn and Steve Austin) will play, and Seattle dancer and caller Kathleen O’Grady-Graham will teach and call the dances. The suggested donation is $8 and $6 for students and seniors. No partner or experience is required. The Hardware Store Restaurant will continue to exhibit the photography of Calle Holcombe throughout March. Holcombe is a Vashon High School graduate who is currently enrolled in her senior year at Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

She is currently working on a photo essay of Death Valley for a nationally published travel periodical.

Her current exhibit at The Hardware Store Restaurant shows places she has traveled, people in her life and her fascination with small details and pieces of everyday life that are sometimes overlooked, she said.
