Get ready for HONK!
Drama Dock is putting the finishing touches on its upcoming production of “HONK!,” a musical retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s story of the ugly duckling.
The show will run April 10 to 26.
Producers said the musical is full of catchy tunes, delightful characters and colorful 1950s style costumes.
In a nod to making the show affordable to all during difficult economic times, Drama Dock will offer four discounted performances of “HONK!” Tickets for these shows are $5 for children and seniors and $10 for adults.
Discounted performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 10 and 11, and 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, April 16 and 23.

McMurray benefit held
McMurray eighth-graders have organized “2013 Presents,” a night of music at the Sportsmen’s Club scheduled for 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, April 4.
The benefit will feature five local music acts — Maury Island Paperboys, House Engine, The Terrordactyls, Ian Moore and Poetry in Motion.
Proceeds from the evening will be used to purchase new drinking fountains for McMurray, which will be decorated by the departing eighth- graders.
Tickets are $10 at the door. There will also be wine and beer for sale and light snacks. The event is for ages 21 and older only.
Sing with Free Range
Free Range Folk Choir is welcoming new singers for its spring session. Rehearsals begin at 7 p.m. Monday, March 23, at the Methodist Church.
The spring season will include spirit-lifting styles from gospel to Slavic, African to Americana.
Individuals, couples and families with children ages 10 and up are encouraged to join. No auditions are required — just an urge to sing in joyful harmony with other Islanders.

Draw at VALISE
VALISE Gallery will be the scene of a free drawing session from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 29.
This is the kickoff of a regular series of monthly drawing salons, open to all ages, which will combine some life drawing and still life study.
Participants are requested to supply their own drawing materials and bring a chair or cushion.
A few drawing materials will be on hand for beginners who are drawing for the first time.
