Spend a musical evening with Beethoven as Trio Pardalote bows to life the maestro’s magical “String Trio in E Flat, op. 3” at the next concert of the Vashon Chamber Music series at 7 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church.
The trio — Victoria Parker (violin), Heather Bentley (viola) and Rowenna Hammill (cello) — shares a keen commitment to the art of live musical performances, with particular attention given to their interpretations of classical chamber music.
Known for performing traditional compositions for string, the women also commission works by current composers and enjoy collaborating with other performers to broaden the range of their repertoire. On Sunday, Seattle composer and keyboardist Wayne Horvitz will join the trio for a contemporary chamber music collaboration.
Celebrated soloists, chamber musicians, principal orchestra players and improvisers, the trio believes music to be a soul-nurturing and transporting medium of expression and enjoys connecting with their audience in this way.
The trio’s name comes from the pardalote, a tiny and rarely seen Australian songbird, one that paid a visit to Hammill’s mother on her birthday and now lives on as the trio’s namesake.
