Cowboy Junkies play Bramblefest

Cowboy Junkies, the popular Canadian alternative country/blues/folk rock band, will be the star of Bramblefest, Vashon Center for the Arts’ outdoor summer concert slated for 7 p.m. Friday, July 14, on the VCA outside arts space.

Formed in Toronto in 1985, the group — Margo Timmins, Michael Timmins, Peter Timmins and Alan Anton — is well known for such hit songs as “Sweet Jane,” “Misguided Angel” and “I’m so Lonesome I Could Cry.” Performing songs from their latest release, “Notes Falling Slow,” the band will also reach back to songs from the past.

Guitarist/songwriter Michael Timmins said that “playing live is the most important thing that we do as a band. It is the one constant in our career that connects that first gig 30 years ago to today.”
