Cruise galleries and art spots twice in January

First Friday will happen twice in January. The first cruise will take place on Friday, Jan. 2, with two galleries and several businesses remaining open. On the following Friday, Jan. 9, a second gallery walk will take place, with other galleries and art spots participating.

On Jan. 2, Island Quilter will open a new exhibit called “My MODERN: Celebrating Five Years of the Seattle Modern Quilt Guild.” Island Quilter is a longtime supporter of the guild, which for the last five years has been dedicated to exploring and promoting the modern quilt aesthetic. Modern quilts feature bold colors, prints, high contrast, improvisational piecing and alternate grids, among other variations on the traditional designs.

The Vashon Bookshop will have live music.

On either side of the bookshop, Kronos will be open as will the Vashon Tea Shop, which will feature live music as well.

Galleries that will open shows on Friday, Jan. 9, include Vashon Allied Arts, Heron’s Nest, Hastings Cone Gallery, Two Wall Gallery and VALISE.

Café Luna and Puget Sound Cooperative Credit Union will continue showing work from shows that opened in December.
