TRIBE-olution will bring a colorful celebration of dance to The Open Space for Arts & Community at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

TRIBE-olution is a group of performers who explore the roots of dance in African, Brazilian-Capoeira and Asian Kung Fu traditions through cross-cultural dance moves and contemporary musical theater.

Ensemble members include Jsqwerl from the world-champion crew Massive Monkees and Blazii from Dogg Pound, as well as emcee, deejay and beatboxer Justin Murta and musicians from hip hop soul band Global Heat. The ensemble will be joined by traditional cultural performers from Africa and Brazil.

In a press release, organizers call the event “a fun-filled show to be followed by a dance party for the whole family.”

The dance group will also offer two dance workshops — a hip hop dance workshop will take place on Friday at Fly Fridayz, and an African drum and dance workshop will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday, before the evening’s show.

The show will be an all-ages performance. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Tickets are available at Vashon Bookshop, tribeolution.brownpapertickets.com and at the door.

For workshop information and registration, call (425) 486-4063 or email tribeolution@mindspring.com.
