The band Liquid Gold, made up of violinist Edwin Huizinga and guitarist William Coulter, will perform at 7 p.m. Friday at Havuart Ee Shalom, with island Kat Eggleston playing the opening act.

With the playful monkier “virtuoso violin meets Celtic guitar,” Huizinga and Coulter seriously explore the cross-genre elements of classical, folk and contemporary musical traditions. An evening might include a prelude by Bach, an Irish reel, fiery tangos and Spanish love songs, baroque to Balkan tunes.

Grammy-award winning guitarist William Coulter played at the Blue Heron with a band called Blackbird a few years back and has performed and recorded traditional and classical music for over 25 years. He teaches guitar at the University of California Santa Cruz.

Canadian-born Huizinga is a versatile violinist who performs with Canadian indie rock band, baroque orchestras and innovative chamber ensembles. He is the artistic director of a chamber music series in Toronto and has performed with numerous Baroque orchestras.

Tickets are $15, available at Vashon Bookshop or at the door.
