Three years ago, island singer-song-writer Sarah Christine had an intention to do more than dabble with her music. Last week, she released her new single, “We Are One,” realizing both her intention and a greater wish for her music to become a vehicle for good.

Last spring, while on tour in Hawaii, Sarah Christine experienced one of those life-changing moments.

“When I’m in nature, songs come to me,” she said. “Sitting by the water in Hawaii, a very special song (“We Are One”) came through fully-formed. It was one of those very potent moments where it feels as though there is this song spiraling around me and my only job is to be present and receive it.”

Receive it she did, but it wasn’t her only job. Not only did the song seek her out, she said, but it delivered “what felt like clear instructions to use it as a platform to raise money and awareness for causes beyond music.”

“There is no question that many people in the world are in need. I feel I have a responsibility to do something more to contribute to the healing of the planet,” she said. “I’ve gotten clarity to use music as the tool to heal, to be in service.”

Sarah Christine will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of her new single to the nonprofit Unstoppable Foundation, an organization that brings schools and access to clean water and sanitation to villagers in Kenya, Liberia and Uganda.
