Islander Jason Everett will be featured with the band SAMA this weekend as part of the Nights at the Neptune Summer Concert Series in Seattle.

Everett, a world music bass player, plays a seven-string fretless bass. The band, with members from San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Seattle — and Vashon Island — will play a night of world music. Everett noted his respect for the music and all the musicians involved.

“I’ve been playing professionally since I was 16, and this is the biggest concert of my career,” he said.

Vishal Nagar, the cofounder of SAMA and a highly regarded Indian tabla player, described the band in an event press release.

“It is the sonic expression of many musical traditions and styles, including those from India, America and the Middle East and honors the traditional as well as the contemporary,” he said.

The show, at 8 p.m. Friday, is free and open to people of all ages. The Neptune Theatre is located at 1303 NE 45th St. in Seattle’s University District.
