Eugenie Jones, the 2016 Earshot Jazz Vocalist of the Year, will bring her quick rhythmic sound, silken tone and original songs to the Katherine L White Hall at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Jones is a seasoned artist with two well-received albums under her belt — “Come Out Swingin’” and “Black Lace Blue Tears.” As a composer, she is often described as following in the tradition of Nina Simone and Abbey Lincoln, and she covers a number of Simone’s songs.
