Local musicians sing to help others

Vashon Events will help set the holiday mood of giving with “Will Sing For Food,” the second annual benefit for the Vashon-Maury Community Food Bank at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Red Bike.

Like last year’s event, local musicians will gather to perform holiday carols for tips in support of the food bank.

“The evening (will) kick off the holiday season in an intimate setting with some of the island’s more endearing musicians,” said Vashon Events co-founder Pete Welch. “It will be fun, festive and for a great cause.”

In addition to a “tip jar” for the food bank, there will be boxes set up for non-perishable food donations. The food bank is specifically in need of canned beans and soups, canned meals, pet food and toiletries.

For a list of performers and the songs they will sing, visit www.vashonevents.com.

This is an all-ages show until 11 p.m. Donations will be accepted in lieu of a cover charge.
