Islanders can escape the rain to watch a vibrant dance movie, “Step Up 2 the Streets,” and then appear in a new music video being shot at the Vashon Theatre at 9:30 p.m. Friday.

The evening is being presented by the Infinite-Engine, an electronic dance music ensemble made up of islanders Michon and Deborah D’Artell.

On Friday, they’ll shoot a portion of their new music video, “Raging Storms,” joined on stage by a local cellist, 15-year-old Preston Scheer, percussionist Norrie Gerbert and bassist Joshua Michael Shew. During the shoot, viewers and participants will see InfiniteEngine perform on the stage, in front of the backdrop of their new short film — an uplifting story of transformation based on the famous fairy tale “The Ugly Duckling.”

But prior to the shoot, audience members will be able to enjoy a free screening of “Step Up 2 the Streets,” a 2008 feature film that tells the story of a rebellious street dancer who must adjust to  her new role as a student at a prestigious arts academy. The film is chock-full of stunning dance sequences, said Michon. The film is rated PG-13.

Michon said he hopes Islanders will come out for what he believes will be a fun, entertaining and inspiring evening of film, music and dance.
